Alabama Man Accused of Killing Woman, Burning Body
By Nikki Thrace. Jun 14, 2025
A quiet Alabama neighborhood turned into the center of a murder investigation after the discovery of what authorities believe are the burned remains of a missing woman. The case has taken a grim turn - and the details are as disturbing as they are baffling.
A Weekend Disappearance
Autumn Paige Strickland, 38, was last seen on May 16, 2025, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Authorities described her as a vulnerable individual, noting she may have been living with a condition that impaired her judgment. She was reported missing over the weekend, prompting a search that would quickly evolve into something far more serious.
From Search to Suspicion
On May 20, Florence police arrested 28-year-old Logan Rogers at a home on North Wood Avenue - the same location where officers later uncovered human remains in a burn barrel. The remains are believed to be Strickland’s, though forensic testing is underway to confirm the identity.
Police initially charged Rogers with attempted murder, but the charge was swiftly upgraded to murder once the remains were found. Investigators allege that Rogers intentionally struck Strickland with her 2012 Kia Soul on May 17 - not once, but twice. Court documents indicate that after hitting her the first time, he circled back to hit her again, then returned about 30 minutes later in a pickup truck to retrieve her body.
Evidence Mounts
According to a report by WAAY-TV, video surveillance from a nearby business appears to support the claim that Strickland was struck twice in the same location. Her cell phone was also discovered at the scene, further tying the incident to Rogers.
Police believe Rogers attempted to dispose of the body by burning it in a barrel at his residence. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet released a possible motive. As of now, Rogers remains in the Lauderdale County Jail without bond.
What Remains Unanswered
In a statement, the Florence Police Department acknowledged the community’s role in moving the investigation forward, saying tips from the public were instrumental. They also commended detectives for their tireless work on the case.
The broader picture remains unclear. Authorities believe Rogers and Strickland didn’t know each other before that night. With the forensics report pending and the legal process just beginning, many questions still linger.
But one thing is already certain: a woman vanished under mysterious and tragic circumstances. Now, the man accused of killing her waits behind bars, and an Alabama community waits for justice.
