An autopsy later confirmed that Kilonzi died due to blunt-force trauma and a severe head injury. As of April 2025, no arrests have been made, but police are actively investigating whether the suspect may have fled the U.K.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren, leading the investigation, reassured the public that there is no immediate threat, as authorities believe the suspect had a personal connection to Kilonzi. “I know this is a concerning time for the wider community and want to reassure the public that whilst we are in the early stages of this investigation, we believe the suspect was known to Marianne and there is no wider risk to the public,” Soren said in a statement, according to PEOPLE.
