Human Leg Found Near Taylor Swift's Home

On a serene morning in one of Rhode Island’s most exclusive coastal enclaves, a shocking discovery disrupted the calm. Near the gates of Taylor Swift’s seaside estate in Watch Hill, Westerly police uncovered something gruesome. The find has triggered questions, local unease, and rampant speculation - despite official reassurances that no foul play is currently suspected.

The Discovery on Everett Avenue

Just before 9:30 a.m. on May 14, 2025, officers from the Westerly Police Department responded to a report of possible human remains along Everett Avenue, a quiet shoreline street lined with multimillion-dollar homes.

What they found was a human leg bone - startling enough in any setting, let alone within walking distance of a global superstar’s estate.

The remains were transported to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office for analysis, and the identity has not yet been confirmed. Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella stated via email to Newsweek, “Currently, no foul play is suspected.”

Local residents are struggling to make sense of it. Westerly local Taylor Day, who happened to drive by the area just as the police arrived, described seeing multiple squad cars and a medical examiner’s vehicle. “It kind of alarmed me,” she said, according to NBC 10 News, “and it was just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly.”

The location of the discovery - not far from Swift’s iconic mansion and the historic Ocean House hotel - has only added to the intrigue. Day, echoing many in the community, said, “I would never expect anything like that - especially not in Watch Hill.”

A Wider Pattern?

Although police say there’s no indication of a crime, the find has fueled online rumors of a potential serial killer in New England. That theory gained traction after it was revealed that at least 12 sets of human remains have been discovered in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island in recent months.

However, authorities have emphasized that the cases are not connected. Gingerella reiterated to Fox News Digital that the leg bone found near Swift’s home has “nothing to do with any serial killer or any New England murderer,” according to The Cut.

Still, social media has taken the story and run with it, linking everything from Swift’s lyrics to the number 13 (her well-known lucky number and the number of alleged remains discovered) to far-fetched theories involving her music videos. One Reddit post even joked that Swift herself was the killer.

The Road Ahead

For now, authorities remain focused on identifying the remains and determining their origin. The police have urged residents to avoid drawing premature conclusions and to report any suspicious activity, no matter how minor.

In the meantime, Watch Hill - known more for champagne on porches than crime tape on sidewalks - is left grappling with a mystery that feels ripped from the headlines of a true crime podcast. Whether this bone becomes part of a broader investigation or a tragic anomaly remains to be seen.
