Mom Dies After Nurse Daughter Pulls Breathing Tube
By Nikki Thrace. Jun 11, 2025
On a quiet Friday morning in Miami, a series of actions inside a hospital room led to a woman’s death - and her daughter’s arrest. The details surrounding what happened that day are chilling and complicated. But at the center of it all stands a nurse with over 20 years of experience, a grieving family, and a question that now rests with the courts.
Was it mercy or manslaughter?
What Happened at Northshore Medical Center?
On May 5, Juansette Sabrina Green’s 79-year-old mother was admitted to Northshore Medical Center in Miami after experiencing shortness of breath. Over time, her condition worsened, and doctors moved her to intensive care, where she was intubated and connected to life-saving equipment.
By Friday, May 10, Green, 54, called her adult children to the hospital. They arrived at the ICU expecting to say their goodbyes or offer support. Instead, what they allegedly witnessed was far more final.
According to an arrest report cited by multiple outlets, including NBC Miami, Green stood beside her mother’s bed and said, “I’m pulling out,” before removing her mother’s intubation tube.
Hospital alarms sounded, staff rushed in to help - but it was too late.
As the staff attempted to re-intubate her mother, Green allegedly told them to stop. She wanted her mother to “go in peace,” the arrest report noted, according to NBC Miami.
Who Is Juansette Sabrina Green?
Green is not just any concerned daughter. She’s a licensed nurse practitioner with more than two decades of experience. That detail has added another layer to the public’s reaction - and to the legal case now unfolding.
Authorities say Green was not employed by Northshore Medical Center. Her presence there was as a visitor and family member, not a member of the medical team.
The Arrest and Legal Response
Later that same evening, Miami-Dade deputies arrived at Green’s residence. She agreed to speak with them - but only at the sheriff’s office. Once there, officers read her Miranda rights. Green chose to remain silent from that point on, the Miami Herald reported.
She was charged with aggravated manslaughter of an elderly or disabled adult. Over the weekend, a judge ordered that she be held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she remains in custody.
What Comes Next?
No court date has been set, and Green’s attorney has not released a public statement. The investigation remains ongoing. While prosecutors move forward with their case, many in the community are grappling with how to process what happened - and what it means when someone trained to save lives is accused of doing the opposite.
Was this an act of mercy or a criminal offense? That’s a question that will be left to the courts. For now, one life is gone, and another hangs in the balance.
