Inside the car, investigators found maps, empty soda bottles, a pair of shoes, and trash from a fast-food meal (from Hardee’s, not McDonald’s). A small amount of marijuana and “indications of criminal activity” were also discovered in the car.

Strangely, the car’s odometer indicated it had been driven 600 to 700 miles more than the distance from Oklahoma to Carlisle. This detail suggested someone had taken the car on a significant detour, further complicating the investigation.
